Football Community Benefits From Sponsor

31 August 2021 – As women’s month officially draws to a close, Betway South Africa’s continued efforts towards the development of women’s sport is set to increase in the next few weeks.

The leading sports betting company, in close partnership with the Midrand Local Football Association, is proud to roll out another highly impactful community sport upliftment initiative, as part of its ongoing efforts towards celebrating and elevating women-led community sport programmes.

In a bid to take the women’s game to even greater heights, Betway and the Midrand LFA are working around the clock to put together an all-female, SAFA Level 3 Match Officials course for female match officials in the LFA.

The seven-day workshop will take place next month under the auspices of the Midrand LFA, with #BetwayCares Skills Hub graduate, Siyabulela Loyilane, spearheading the programme.

Loyilane, who is also Vice-President of the LFA, formed part of the 20 female sport administrators that attended the inaugural #BetwayCares Skills Hub programme earlier this year. The three-day workshop had a strong focus on Administration, Marketing and Sponsorship at community sport level.

After successfully completing the programme, the highly driven administrator put her newly found skills to test by drafting a proposal to the caring brand to request kit and equipment assistance, as well as skills training for match officials and administrators at her LFA.

Realising the dire situation faced by the LFA, Betway took up the offer to assist the LFA as part of its monthly #BetwayCares programme that has today reached more than 30 community sport organisations and programmes across the country.

Sharing her excitement on the partnership, Loyilane said she was quite impressed with the way in which the brand lives up to its promise of being a caring brand that is easily accessible and always eager to make a difference.

“After completing the #BetwayCares Skills Hub programme in February, Betway encouraged us to put our skills to good use. Our course focused on administration and sponsorship amongst other things and part of that included showing us how to put together a proposal. Fortunately for us, Betway is a brand that truly cares, and this is clearly demonstrated in how quickly they responded to our proposal for assistance, which will be of great benefit to women’s football in our region,” said Loyilane.

Betway SA Marketing Manager, David Rachidi, said the brand’s commitment to elevating women’s sport proudly extends beyond the month of August and that they were looking forward to working together with the LFA in positively contributing to the growth of the women’s game.

“Betway’s contribution to the growth of women’s sport across the country and certain parts of the continent is well documented over the past three years. However, as a caring brand that recognises a significant gap that still exists in women sport across all divisions, we understand that there is a significant amount of work that still needs to be done in levelling the playing fields for women’s sport. As a result, Betway takes pride in leading such a programme that will in the long run be of great benefit to women’s football,” said Rachidi.

Official dates and times of the refereeing course will be announced in due course.
