Township Giants, National Dwarfs.

One of the giants of Soweto not quite sure if they can still be called that in my opinion, is forever being subjected to scrutiny over players transfers.

The latest one that has all of footy twitter, excessively on their finger tips are pre contracts offered to players who are on the verge of being out contracted with their current teams.

This gigantic powerhouse in its former days, is well known for acquiring free agents. How the mighty have now been subjected to being a frugal FC.

With every player free or not there are fees tabulated these include the obvious, annually contractual player image rights.

The question at hand who benefits more from these free agents and to what extent? Circumstantial rumors may have one to believe that without popular belief, kickbacks may be the order of the day.

All of this is just speculation but there’s hardly smoke without fire.

With every team trying their utmost, by securing the right players to fit within their esteemed clubs, with the intention to upset future PSL standings and to dethrone the mighty Mamelodi Sundowns, the transfer window is officially opened.

A coastal player was offered a pre contract for the up and coming season. The stipulations of that contract are unknown but one can speculate that this acquisition was done without the knowledge of the current club.

This is not the first and certainly won’t be last of its kind but the question at hand is… There’s a particular FC that only targets free agents and with no explanation and blatantly refuses to pay a dime for a player.

“If he’s not free, he won’t be a good fit”

When supporters inquired to this, they were told “the cheque book was not an option!” Frugality at it’s best.

The gain that comes with being frugal, has some sort of a financial advantage to the individual but could be disastrous in the long run, 7 seasons with only the so called plastic trophies to display.

“The PSL doesn’t suffer from a farmer’s league but from frugality that leads to obsolete players”
