The rivalry between SuperSport United and Kaizer Chiefs was renewed when the 2 teams locked horns in the Capital City.
The Naturena based side started the brighter of the two, but finding the back of the net proved a mammoth task. They continued to pile of the pressure without yielding any results. SuperSport found their feet and Bradley Grobler needed no second invitation as he chipped the ball over a helpless Khune in the 45th minute. 1-0 at the break.
In the 2nd half Matsatsantsa a Pirtori continued where they’d left off and 10 minutes later they doubled their lead through Sipho Mbule’s grass-cutter. Amakhosi went searching for a consolation goal, but it was not meant to be as Nkosingiphile Ngcobo’s free kick hit the crossbar with Williams well beaten. It got worse when Dumisani Zuma opted to balloon his shot from pointblank range. The Glamour boys misery piled on when Philani Zulu’s rush of blood to the head earned him a red card after he tackled Ghampani Lungu from behind.
Their consolation goal did come for Abafana Bokuthula Noxolo in the 88th minute through a Lebogang Manyama penalty after Luke Fleurs fouled Zuma in the box. 2-1 it ended with Gavin Hunt’s boys experiencing their 3rd defeat of the season. The result sees them languishing in 12th spot on the log.
